What an awesome idea here for funding of small arts projects, via Ken Davenport. The concept is called Kickstarter, and it's Kiva for the arts. Seriously, I wish I thought of this.
Here's what I'd like to see: a website where shares of artistic endeavors can be sold on a secondary exchange, like a stock market. Excited about the next Neil Simon play? Buy a share in it. If the project tanks, your share is worthless. Or, if they announce that they've signed Nathan Lane in the leading role, your stock skyrockets. Bringing liquidity to theater. I wonder if it would work.
