So I got this crazy watch in the mail today. Its supposed to help me wake up feeling more refreshed, by waking me within a pre-defined interval of my "alarm time" based on it discerning that my body is in a "near-awake" state. All of which is to say, it senses how much I'm moving around, and if I'm really moving around a lot, it means I'm probably almost awake, and it wakes me up. To be honest, I'm a little dubious of this claim, but the watch has a 30-day money back guarantee, so if it doesn't work, no harm done.
First impressions - this thing sure is fugly. I'm not sure why they had to make it look like a child's watch for $175, it would be nice if, in addition to a sleep tracking device, I also got a watch that I could wear to work. But no. See the pictures. It looks uglier than a watch I wore in second grade. The instruction manual is easy to follow, and I had the time and alarm set within 5 minutes. I didn't realize that it has fairly robust data gathering capabilities. It plugs into a Windows PC and stores your sleep data. That's cool. Unfortunately I'm a Mac-only guy, so I'll have to hand-record all of my sleep times for the first few weeks.
Its only 4:36pm now, so it'll be a while before I get to bed. We'll see how it goes. Looking forward to waking up tomorrow morning bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, as promised.
